TRAVEL JOURNAL: BYRON BAY

Byron Bay, Australia

Byron bay is a charming, tropical beach town in the southeastern Australian state of New South Wales. It’s a quick one-hour flight from the busy city of Sydney, and perfect for a relaxing and beautiful holiday.

Byron Bay has always held a special place in our hearts. Firstly, it’s where we shot our very first Monday Swimwear campaign. Byron Bay is also home to Natasha’s step mom, whom we ADORE, and some of our favorite beaches in the entire world.  If you ever have a chance to visit Australia, we highly recommend a trip to Byron.

Tips before you book:

– Plan how you will arrive to Byron. From Sydney, you have the option to fly or drive. The drive is beautiful but it’s 10 hours long, so you may want to consider flying!

-Be aware that the lifestyle and dress code is very casual. Leave your high heels at home, you can chill in Byron.

-Take note of some local Australian animals you might spot while in Byron- we love Kookaburra’s, Koalas and Kangaroos!

Accommodation:

The Byron at Byron

Price range $450-$800 per night

The Byron at Byron is where we stayed on our most recent trip. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for a more upscale resort while still enjoying nature. The Byron at Byron is nestled in 40 acres of preserved rain forest, yet still has all the necessary amenities. Its equipped with a beautiful pool and spa, and just a short walk to the beach. The Byron at Byron is comfortable and chic for a perfect Byron vacation.

Rae’s on Wategos

Price range $400-$1000 per night

Rae’s on Wategos is one of our favorite places in all of Byron. Sitting on one of the best beaches, Wategos, this beautiful and newly remodeled resort. The rooms are styled to perfection with the Byron charm. The pool is not as impressive as the rest of its amenities, but the property is located on a beautiful white-sand beach.

Restaurants:

Red Hot and Green

Yummm our favorite Thai-inspired restaurant. It’s a small “hidden gem” with only a few tables and a small eat-in space. But don’t let that fool you, the food is delicious. If you visit Red Hot and Green, you must try the tempura snapper with curried vegetables!

The Byron at Byron Resort Restaurant

If you’re looking for a more upscale dining experience, the Byron at Byron is a great choice. The ever-changing menu is inspired by Asian, modern Australian, and European influences. Since we were staying on the property, we dined at the Byron and Byron restaurant during our stay. The food was fresh and fragrant, and the staff helped us pair our entrees with the perfect wines. The miso buttered vegetables were the epitome of fresh Australian product, and duck was divine!

OSushi

In the mood for Sushi? Look no further. OSushi offers a classic Japanese menu, with a modern, contemporary ambiance. The menu has a colorful and fresh selection of sushi, fish, and traditional hot dishes.
