We all love to mix and match every once and a while, not only is it a cute trend but it can save a lot of money. Most brands sell their bikinis as separates so you can buy that classic black bottom to match with numerous different tops. Sometimes mixing and matching can go wrong and can make your swimwear look unfashionable and tacky, lets go through the DO’S and DON’TS of Mixing and Matching.
DO
-Mix and match any cut of top and bottom E.G Tie side bottom, Bandeau top.
-Match any two solid colors together. E.G Red Bottom, White top.
-Match a print with a solid color but only if the solid color matches a color within the print.
-Match the same/ similar fabrics i.e
– Match suits of similar coverage i.e Full Coverage with full coverage, skimpy with skimpy.
Examples of how to mix and max:
DON’T
– DO NOT match a solid color with a print unless it is a color from within the print. E.G Floral aloha print with Solid Black Top!
– DO NOT mix prints, this can rarely be pulled off so its better to avoid it.
-DO NOT mix lingerie with swimwear, its not a good look.
-DO NOT try to mix two different colors that are almost the same to make a matching bikini set.
-DO NOT mix and match large full coverage styles with skimpy minimal styles, you still want to look like the set matches.
-DO NOT mix extremely different materials E.G neoprene top with crotchet bottom
Examples of how NOT TO mix and match:
Mixing and Matching can be totally cute but the key thing to remember is you still want your top and bottom to MATCH and look like a set, so be sure to follow our guidelines next time your switching it up!

While i mostly agree with your pointers I disagree about mixing prints! It can look so fashionable anD cute when done right. A floral top and a striped bottom is one of my personal favourites. I also think it can look great to mix different fabrics. This is usually best done using different colours and/or prints rather than, for example, a black crochet bottom with a black lycra top. I think the key is to make it look deliberate (instead of as if you’ve tried to make a matching pair out of two non-matching pieces) and to have fun with it. It doesn’t need to match, it just needs to go 🙂
