How To: Get Beachy Hair

It should come as no surprise that our all-time favorite hair style is the beach wave. When we’re not actually at the beach and can’t take a dip in the ocean, we still like to create this free and effortless look year round:

Natasha’s hair is naturally straight, and she truthfully does not have to do much to create that messy, tousled look. She simply mists a sea salt spray through damp hair and gently scrunches to enhance her naturally beautiful locks. Our favorite sea salt spray is Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. It mimics that wind-blown look from a day spent at the beach. When her hair is dry she adds some Moroccan Oil to the ends to add a little shine. When Natasha wants to look a little more polished, she uses a blow dry technique. Natasha flips her head over to maximize volume and uses a paddle brush, and then completes the look with the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray.

Devin prefers a more volumunious beach look. To achieve this, she curls her hair using a flat iron. She first sprays a heat protectant through her hair, like Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray, a necessary step before using any heat on your hair. Then, she puts two inch sections of hair at a time into the hair straightener. She twists the flat iron, and with a half rotation, pulls it down through the length of her hair (video below). Be sure to twist your hair away from your face on the pieces framing your face. Follow up with some light hairspray like, Moroccan Oil Luminous HairsprayOnly use a light and flexible spray, because a crunchy, stiff look is the complete opposite of soft and easy beach waves.

The beauty of the beach wave is that it is a versatile look that works with all hair types. Our aim is to look natural and not spend hours agonizing over our hair. So whatever your hair texture is, try to embrace it as much as possible!
