Your Body Type, Your Bikini

Women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes! It is important to know your body type so you can shop accordingly. Wearing the right style of bikini can do wonders for your figure. There are infinite options of bikinis these days and we all know bikini shopping can be overwhelming at times. Use our guide to help you on your search for the perfect bikini. We want all women to feel sexy and beautiful at the beach!

Pear Shape: Wider on the bottom than you are on the top. Great hips!
Solid coloured full-coverage briefs, hipsters, or boy shorts on the bottom will work a charm and you can enhance your top half with prints, moulded cups, a halter style or cleavage detailing.

Hourglass: Slightly curvaceous and shaped like an hourglass.
Underwire or halter style will support your chest and full coverage bottoms will look slimming. If you’re daring try out a brazilian bikini to enhance your booty!

Fuller figure: More curvaceous or heavier figure.
A two piece full brief and tank combo can be a great option, allowing you to still feel sexy and feminine, but get the coverage you want. With a halter style bikini top if you are comfortable with it. One piece swimsuits and monokinis are great and often have built in support.

Petite: Small all around, height, weight and small bust and hips.
String tops or bandeaus with padding, floral prints and ruffles on top will accentuate your upper half paired with a basic medium or brazilian coverage bottom.
Stay away from boy-leg bottoms, full coverage briefs and halter tops.

Athletic: Broader shoulders, narrowed hips and muscular legs.
Brazilian style, hipsters or a tapered back bottom will show off your toned lower half. Cups, padding and gathering on top will soften your chest and feminine details like girlie prints and embellishments will add something extra!
Steer clear of bandeaus, boy-cut briefs and shapeless tanks.

Straight: Less curves, hip and bust measurements are similar.
Ruffles, gathering or padding on top will fake some curves, or you can get away with a more skimpy style string top and bottom or hipster bottoms.
Stay away from bandeau tops and sporty bottoms.

  1. Hi! 🙂

I’ve tried to follow your “guide” above to find the bikini that suits me best, but I just can’t seem to find on that fits gret and that I feel comfortable in.

The biggest problem is my butt! I’m short (about 6″3) and I’m somewhere in between pear shape and hourglass shape. I’ve quite a big bust, and really muscular thighs and legs. I’ve got a big (!!) butt compared to my upper-body. I’ve found out that full-coverege and boyshorts don’t look good at all since it makes my butt look even bigger, yet I’m not shore if I’m comfortable enough to wear a brazilian. Do you have any gret in betweens? Or any other tip I should think about, considering my body type.

    Thanks in advance,
    Hugs! Matilda xo 🙂
