OUR MOST WISHLISTED POOLS IN HAWAII

Hawaii is notoriously touted for its seemingly endless coastlines across the four most popular islands (Hawaii Island, Kauai, Maui and Oahu). As if the beautiful beaches and picturesque palm trees are not enough to entice, many resorts also offer a near-perfect poolside situation with design in mind.

Here, we’re showcasing the hot hotels with the poshest pools—places where we guarantee you’re going to want to grab your chair first thing in the morning and places may find yourself well into the night.

OAHU

The Modern Honolulu – Consistently ranked as one of Hawaii’s best boutique hotels, this chic spot offers not one, but two, poolside retreats. The Sunrise Pool is abuzz with guests and patrons of The Grove, the al fresco dining area, while the Sunset Pool is an adults-only space, surrounded by sand and equip with its own bar under the bougainvillea. Both pool decks sparkle beneath the Waikiki skyline, so there’s no need to leave once the sun goes down. In fact, the pools are one of the best places to watch the sunset and the Friday fireworks that light up the night.

Alohilani Resort – This recently revamped hotel now offers a salt water infinity pool on its fifth floor deck, perfect for watching the sunset over Waikiki Beach. Plus, the sleek space is the place to getaway with your girls—or your guy—thanks to the private floating cabanas available for rent for full or half days. Plus, the Swell Pool & Bar features mouthwatering local favorites, a curated beer selection, signature cocktails and nightly live music.

Sheraton Waikiki – In the heart of Waikiki, you’ll find one of the most epic infinity pools overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Though you’re close to all the action (world-class shopping, dining and unbeatable beaches, etc.!), you’ll feel worlds away as you step into this stunning spot situated just feet above the ocean’s edge. Reserve one of Edge of Waikiki’s poolside water lounges, mini cabanas or opt for a more elevated experience by reserving a luxury cabana.

KAUAI

Koloa Landing Resort – In the posh town of Poipu on the southern side of Kauai lies one of the largest single pools on the Garden Isle. Swim-through waterfalls and grotto, wild waterslides, an infinity edge and multiple Jacuzzis make this 350,000-gallon pool unforgettable. The real pampering happens at the poolside cabanas, where you can lounge with island-inspired cocktails and pupu in hand as the overhead fan keeps you cool.

The St. Regis Princeville – Plant yourself poolside at The St. Regis Princeville and marvel at the majestic waters of Hanalei Bay. Poolside and shoreside cabanas afford a more private experience, where you’ll enjoy amenities like Evian spritzers, a refreshing fruit platter, craft cocktails, a bottle of bubbly, sparkling water and more. Soak up the sunshine, the picturesque views of the bay and sunset over Bali Hai.

MAUI

Wailea Beach Resort-Marriott  – This grand retreat has five pools on property, offering something for families, gal pals, couples, and solo travelers alike. Our top pick is the Mahluhia Serenity Pool, the signature adults-only infinity edge pool. Spend the day in the private cabanas that float over the water, then enjoy a special dinner right there as you watch the spectacular sunset. The multi-level pool decks provide unobstructed panoramic views of the Pacific. Then there are the ‘Ohi Pools, two new oceanfront pools just steps from the coastline, so close you can often feel the ocean’s mist. There, two whirlpool spas offer the necessary vacation (or staycation) relaxation.

Grand Wailea – If you’re up for an adventure, kids and kids at heart are encouraged to play in the Waimea Canyon Pool. Float down the river that connects the nine individual pools that feature a swim-up bar, whitewater rapids slide, a lava tube slide, six waterfalls, Jacuzzis and so much more. If it’s tranquility you’re seeking, head to the Hibiscus Pool, named for the giant Mexican glass mosaic tile flower at bottom.

BIG ISLAND

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai – For a truly luxurious experience, head to Four Seasons Hualalai, the breathtaking oceanside oasis on the exclusive Kona-Kohala coast. The seven stunning pools on property provide an individualized experience based on your daily desire. Our favorites include the Beach Tree Pool which features 14 cabanas and umbrella-clad loungers, and the adults-only Palm Grove Pool, the ultimate relaxation station thanks to ambient music, exclusive craft menus and swim-up bar. Perhaps most impressive is the 1.8-million gallon King’s Pond, a swimmable aquarium carved out of the natural lava rock featuring more than 4,000 tropical fish.
